Ancient Indian Millets

Image
The year 2023 was declared by the United Nations as the  International Year of Millets, to bring awareness of the millets to the world.  Once a forgotten food, But  nowadays we see many articles related to millet.  Why are millets forgotten??? Before answering the question we focus on the benefits of millet. Millets contribute to a healthy diet that contains antioxidants, minerals, and proteins and they are gluten-free with a very low glycemic index. They  are resistant to drought and tolerant to crop diseases and pests and they can grow in any adverse climatic condition.  They require significantly less water to grow when compared to rice and wheat thereby benefitting the consumers, farmers, and the environment Coming to the answer why millets are forgotten?? The food shortage in India post-independence led to a green revolution which prioritized the production of wheat and rice to overcome the crisis. Back then only rice and millet production was h...

Respecting Women!!! So near Yet So far...

Image
Imagine a gender equality country where women are respected and no woman is afraid to work nights, drive and earn money to support her family like unprotected men. According to India's Global Inequality Report, 82% of men and 18% of women earn an income. A working woman in every family can double the Indian economy. In addition to praising the beautiful women in mythology, we must inspire our children with stories of strong women in today's world. The way a father treats his mother is a child's first lesson in respect for women. Think about how a man will feel about other women when he loves women without caring about them. Stereotyping is the biggest problem women face right now, it prevents women from entering the kitchen, it leaves them in the dark about the financial situation of the family, it keeps them away from judgments, details and bad jokes about women, it keeps all emotions inside. World. Stress can be like a punching bag for the women in the family, and there a...

Friendship Day Thoughts

Friendship Day is the best day to let your friends know how much you need and love them. The best way to celebrate this day is to spend quality time with them. In these busy days, relations are often forgotten and with the everyday hustle we make easy friends like colleagues who are easily accessible and tend to forget the long term  relations. These special days give us an opportunity and act as a reminder for us to take our time out and spend with the people who make us happy and be with those where we can be ourselves.  It is a real stress buster and a much-needed mental vacation where we can recollect old memories, pause responsibilities, be our crazier selves, ignite our humor sense and comeout of the day with strengthened relationships, and a mental massage. For celebrations we all like less planning and more action so here are some of my ways which can ease up your planning. For people who miss or cant meet remind you miss them by sending cute surprises like gree...

Are Video Games Good For Kids??

Image
The most common sight in families with millennials today is a child who wants to think with his phone or is constantly playing online games (the cry of shooting / / recording from PUBG is still popular in our ears). It's a major concern for millennial parents and a hot topic of conversation at the office water cooler, smoking area, and on air travel. Although smartphone addiction can affect a child's development, it is often confused with video games. What we need to focus on for children is organized chaos. The freedom given to children to explore the virtual and real world should be limited by length and breadth, not depth. Places, where topics/events are explored, can be encouraged and taught, although it is necessary to control the topics/areas discovered and the time spent by the child. Mobile phone, games, sports, internet, digital media etc. Indian parents who love to use and feel like a threat to their child's development are overly impressed and their unconditio...
